The model EXLA, developed by the IIT for ENDESA, aims at helping the hydro managers to plan the operation of the hydroelectric generation resources in the mid-long term. During 2005, significant improvements were introduced in the tool to incorporate the last needs detected by the users, as well as to allow a more intensive use of the model. As consequence of these improvements, the collaboration of 2005 concluded with a sufficiently mature version that facilitates significantly the configuration of the study, the analysis of the results and the interaction with the user by means of a friendly interface. The basic objectives for 2006 are to give support to the users when making use of the model, as well as to introduce improvements in the mathematical formulation in order to cope with the regulatory framework of the Spanish system.
